Espresso or filter: which coffee grinder suits you?
For espresso, 11 say they can, including the Niche Zero and 1Zpresso JX-Pro. Five, like the Fellow Ode Brew Gen 2, say they can’t.
Then weigh capacity. The single-dose Niche Zero holds 50 g; the Baratza Forte BG hopper takes 450 g.

How the comparison works
Your choices are compared with each model’s product details. A missing or conflicting value stays unknown and cannot satisfy a choice you select. The starting order helps you browse; it does not rate real-world performance.
Source dates appear with each link below. A source date does not confirm today's price or stock.
A grounds bin and a portafilter ask for different workflows
Baratza Encore ESP supports portafilter or bin dosing; Cuisinart Supreme Grind uses a grounds bin. Porlex Mini II is a manual grinder with an integrated chamber. Decide how you want to collect the grounds and whether you want to turn a handle, then check the supported brewing methods. Some models have no supported grinder-type details here, so their names cannot settle that choice.
Bean storage and single-dose capacity are different conveniences
Known bean-container capacities span Porlex Mini II's 20 g to Baratza Forte BG's 450 g. Those endpoints belong to different grinder types and routines. Niche's single-dose grinder uses a catch container, while Forte BG supports portafilter or bin delivery. Compare capacity within the workflow you want rather than treating the largest hopper as an advantage for every coffee drinker.
Setting counts cannot tell you the size of an adjustment
Adjustment counts run from Hario Skerton Pro's 14 settings to the Niche grinder's 360 settings. Different mechanisms can count adjustments differently, so those numbers do not show comparable spacing or espresso suitability; grinder specifications and dosing descriptions here have no particle-distribution, shot-quality or operating-noise measurements behind them. Read the selected grinder's adjustment instructions and brew-method guidance.
Before you buy
Can a hand grinder handle espresso?
Two hand grinders say so: the 1Zpresso JX-Pro, with 90 settings, and the Comandante C40 MK4 Nitro Blade. The Hario Skerton Pro and Porlex Mini II don’t claim espresso, and the 1Zpresso Q2 and Timemore C2 don’t say.
Do more grind settings mean better coffee?
No. The Niche Zero offers 360 settings and the Capresso Infinity Plus 16, but a count says nothing about step size or grind quality. Read how each maker describes its adjustment instead.
Which grinders use flat burrs?
Three: the Eureka Mignon Silenzio (55 mm), Fellow Ode Brew Gen 2 (64 mm) and Rancilio Rocky (50 mm). Twelve use conical burrs, and five give no burr material.
