Room-size labels are maker claims. Equal areas can have different DOE BTU ratings.
Compare ratings and weight. Midea gives 12,000 DOE BTU at 73 lb; Honeywell Classic gives 5,500 BTU at 43 lb.

How the comparison works
Your choices are compared with each model’s product details. A missing or conflicting value stays unknown and cannot satisfy a choice you select. The starting order helps you browse; it does not rate real-world performance.

Keep DOE cooling capacity separate from ASHRAE capacity
Maker figures span 5300 to 12000 BTU on the DOE basis and 6100 to 14000 BTU on the ASHRAE basis. Midea's DUO with Heat and Whynter's NEX Inverter each carry 12000 BTU DOE and 14000 BTU ASHRAE figures. Honeywell's HL Series also carries 14000 BTU ASHRAE, but its DOE figure is 8500 BTU.
Compare the same rating basis rather than treating the larger number as extra cooling from the same machine. This is a comparison of maker ratings, without room-cooling measurements; it cannot establish how quickly an AC cools your particular room.
The exhaust arrangement has to work at your window
Midea DUO with Heat uses 2 hoses, whereas Honeywell HL Series uses 1 hose. The hose arrangement is separate from cooling capacity. Compare the selected model's window kit, exhaust routing and allowed placement with your opening before buying.
Carrying weight is worth a separate look if the unit moves between rooms: Midea DUO with Heat weighs 73 lb and Honeywell HL Series weighs 68 lb. Neither weight nor a hose count supplies window-kit dimensions, drain details or electrical clearances. Follow the installation instructions rather than improvising an exhaust connection.
Treat advertised room area as a sizing clue
Maker coverage figures range from 200 to 700 sq ft. Midea DUO with Heat has a 550 sq ft coverage figure, Whynter NEX Inverter has 600 sq ft and Honeywell HL Series has 700 sq ft. The different figures do not become a room-specific load calculation merely because they appear beside BTU ratings.
Use the maker's sizing guidance for your space, then decide whether heating is needed: the Midea version named With Heat has a heat-pump feature, while Whynter NEX Inverter does not. Coverage and a heating flag do not describe performance under every outdoor condition.
Before you buy
Which rating should I compare, DOE or ASHRAE?
Compare DOE with DOE and ASHRAE with ASHRAE. The same unit shows both: the BLACK+DECKER rates 8,400 BTU DOE and 14,000 BTU ASHRAE, and eight models share that 14,000 ASHRAE figure despite DOE ratings from 8,400 to 12,000.
Which models use two hoses?
Six: four Whynters and both Midea DUO models, and the DUO with Heat is the only heat pump here; the other 14 use one hose. The dual-hose units weigh 60 to 80 lb, and either kind needs its window kit to fit your opening.
Does the room-size figure promise cooling in my room?
No, it’s the maker’s label, and this page doesn’t size a room. The LG Smart Wi-Fi claims 200 sq ft, so use the maker’s own sizing guidance, since sun, ceiling height and kitchen heat could change what a room needs. Area and cooling align only loosely: three models claim 700 sq ft on 8,400 to 8,600 DOE BTU, the Midea DUO with Heat 550 sq ft on 12,000. More cooling tends to add weight: the Midea weighs 73 lb, the 5,500 BTU Honeywell Classic 43 lb.
